Our Mission
EMME is the language association for the state of Maine, a growing, dynamic organization of professionals in education and business, students, and all those who have a common interest in promoting and utilizing languages to create a multilingual and multicultural state.
Mission
To promote and enhance the study, teaching, learning, use, and appreciation of languages, cultures, and diverse peoples.
To encourage among members the exchange of ideas which clarify the place of languages, multilingualism and multiculturalism in their schools, lives and state.
To foster strong professional connections within and across all languages spoken, learned and taught.
To recognize and publicize excellence in language teaching and learning.
To promote participation in a multicultural and multilingual state.
To provide opportunities for collaboration as professionals and learners.
To advocate for and lift up marginalized communities, diverse learners and their families, communities and teachers.
EMME
EMME is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote and improve the teaching and study of foreign languages and cultures. It will also work to further the common interests of teachers, students and all others who use foreign languages in the State of Maine.
EMME members are welcome to attend the monthly meetings of the Advisory Board. These meetings are typically held the third Wednesday of the month (see calendar).
The following people are volunteers, giving their time
and energy beyond their full time jobs.
